Driving back from our evening trip to The ghost walk at Bodie State Historic Park, there’s a fantastic look out at Conway Summit that overlooks Mono Lake and the surrounding mountain ranges. This weekend happened to be pitch black due to the New Moon phase. Perfect for seeing the Milky Way and the galactic core. So I pulled off into the overlook area and whipped out my camera and tripod for some long exposure astro shots. Still working on perfecting my nighttime manual focus skills, but I’m pretty happy with the shots I obtained.
The first 3 photos are from Conway Summit. The remaining photos I took within the town of Mammoth overlooking the Sherwin Mountains as a backdrop. The Conway photos are on my Sigma 28-70 f2.8. The Sherwin photos are on my Rokinon 35mm f1.8 . All on my Sony A7iii.
