One of the highlights of the trip was my time spent seeing the Lincoln Memorial up close. I always admired the memorial in movies and TV shows as well as other photographers work over the years. Definitely larger than life. This year also happens to be the 100th anniversary for the Lincoln Memorial!
So much detail on the building itself. From the outside upper 1/4 of the building with each State’s name going around the border, as well as Lincoln’s speech chiseled into the interior walls. The walk up the many stairs to see Lincoln and then the view back looking over the reflection waters and the Washington Monument reflected over the waters is pretty cool.
Even more special is to see everything at night and all lit up. It’s very peaceful and hardly anyone there at night so you almost feel like you have the place to yourself. An added bonus was having the DC cops join in on our Lincoln photo! The police were very cool and personable. The Lincoln Memorial is not to be missed !
