That 395 house

Over the years of my travels up and down Hwy 395 in the High Sierras, as a kid I always wondered about these 2 houses as we drove by. We would always banter on about buying one of these fixer-uppers and what that would be like. Once I got a little older, the urge to pull over to the side of the highway and check out this area made it into one of my trips. I love the character of these 2 old houses and the views are positively amazing. I would love to photograph here in all seasons. It has become a minor landmark all on its own. Lakes & Wildlife in the High Sierras

One of mine and my family’s favorite things to do on trips to Mammoth is hiking, especially to a picturesque lake or area at the end. I love to capture the still waters of a lake to show the reflection of the surroundings in the waters. The first two are of Virginia Lake in the mid-morning hours. The second two are at Convict Lake ( lots of history about this lake and even an old black and white movie filmed here starring Glenn Ford called The Secret of Convict Lake). The 3rd set is late afternoon wildlife grazing about. The last set is of Hot Creek at sunrise, looking towards Mt Morrison (Convict Lake area). The Convict Lake and Hot Creek photos taken on an a6300 with a Sony G 18-105mm lens. The rest are on an iPhone 11 Pro Max using Adobe Photoshop camera app. #mammothlakes, #monocountytourism, #convictlake, #sonyalpha, #thealphalandscape, #virginialakes, #landscapephotography,

Snowshoeing in Mammoth

Snowshoeing in Mammoth to Obsidian Dome during a snow storm. Was snowing hard on the hike in, but cleared up with awesome weather and skies on the hike back. Got all our gear and info from Kittridge Sports. Those guys are awesome! All shots taken on a6300 18-105mm G lens, except the selfies which were on my iPhone 11 Pro Max. #mammothlakes; #monocountytourism; #kittridgesports
